The slow pirouetting dance of the ink-filled brush on its leaf of paper. The charcoal that slides on the surface of white canvas tracing large curves like an ice-skater. How to draw this perfect shape? Imperfectly, and repeatedly. Circle: the symbol of completion and original perfection. It is a language of humanity, humility and of common truths, and each drawn circle strengthens the common vital energy. As a college student, I was fascinated by the Avesbury Stone Circle in Wiltshire, UK. Later in Sri Lanka, I discovered the power of Shiva dancing in the circle of fire. In Japan it was the enso and the art of Zen Buddhism. And in our contemporary life a new language of symbols is being invented ... and it is just as exciting to me.
